Bamboo beach in Long Ditton
Our clients brief was to have a bamboo beach vibe for the Family bathroom, inspired by their travels to Japan. Where bamboo symbolises strength, resilience and longevity in ancient Asian culture. Often associated with modesty and integrity.
To create the spa retreat feel, we created a large bespoke shower enclosure by Matki. Using bamboo colours in the wood effect tiles to incorporate a relaxing seating area. With kale green tiles within the recessed shelf, keeping the shower area clutter free.
The basin area has been zoned, using Pottery kale green tiles. This compliments the recessed tiles in the shower, enhancing the bamboo feel enclosure. A deep single drawer unit finished in Parisian clay paint, creates plenty of storage with a soft accent. To enhance the Japanese look, we chose a circular basin from The London Basin Co. with bamboo design around the bowl.
Polished nickel finish brassware in the shower and the basin taps, elevate the design, creating accents of light across the room. This adds a luxurious feel and highlights the green and bamboo colour on the wood effect tiles.
Beneath the slope of the ceiling, two Dansani units, matching the colour of the basin, make use of an awkward space. We used under cabinet lighting to banish the dark corners.

The process
Adam, Ben, Winston and Vasile are a spectacular team, from design to execution, communication was top notch and the results are breath-taking.
Design: We decided to do 3 bathrooms and a cloakroom all at once. We came with a reasonably strong sense of the style we wanted; spa-like zen spaces, wood-look, flat shower floors & then went more wild with the cloakroom...Adam was able to interpret these concepts and make them even better through clever design, choice of materials, practical thinking & design flair. Fundamentally, he has a great eye and is brilliant at building on nuggets of ideas and making them reality (only better!).Execution: Ben led the execution team & the great thing is that Winston and Vasile are extremely competent with great attention to detail so you never felt like it was relying on one person being on site. The communication between the team was extremely good. Inevitably, things go wrong sometimes with suppliers, or you discover issues you didn't know about until you rip the walls apart; the team is great at finding solutions. I would go to any of these guys if I had another project, indeed we are already planning a kitchen re-build and will definitely use Bathroom Eleven when we do this.
I don't normally leave reviews, but I love the fact that we have this quality so local! Definitely can't recommend highly enough
We made use of the awkward area under the slope of the ceiling. While not filling it completely to give the area a sense of space. This is helped with lighting under the cabinet, omitting dark areas on the floor.
By creating a large enclosure with seating, the room is opened up, giving a sense of luxury with a retreat feel.
To complement the curved seating in the shower area, we used a circular basin. The bamboo detail enhances the bamboo beach feel, while green within the basin picks up the kale green in the tiles and the Parisian clay tones of the basin unit.
