Scandi style Ensuite in Thames Ditton

A scandi style ensuite is born!

A lovely couple came to us from Thames Ditton, wanting to update their master ensuite. They didn’t have a style or any idea what they were after, giving our designer free range!

While the layout of the bathroom worked, a small window in the room made it feel quite dark. So, Adam went for a Scandi style bathroom design. To bring in soft and light tones to give the bathroom a lift while incorporating a natural feel. By putting in a freestanding oblong bath and wall hung basin, the room is given a luxurious warm feel.

Wood effect tiles and soft colour tones on the walls, create a calming hygge feel to this luxurious bathroom design. Brushed chrome is used throughout amplifying a softness to the floor standing bath tap and brassware – elevating the scandi style.

Recessed shelves above the bath and within the wetroom area is not only practical, but adds a spa quality to the space. As do the hidden lights in the recesses – which create mood lighting to enhance the ambiance of the room.

The room was dark as it only has a small window. Therefore, we added a recessed shelf that runs the length of the bath and inserted hidden lights, thus creating a lighter space which offers mood lighting. Using light materials also enhance the feeling of light. To create a luxurious feel we took out the corner bath and put in a free standing bath coupled with a floor standing tap.

The original shower was built-in and tiled on three sides – with a single glass door. This encroached on the room while creating a dark showering experience. By using a wetroom shower tank, enabled us to run wood effect floor tiles throughout the room, eliminating the need to break up the floor. Furthermore, we used a frame-less shower screen to open up the space. This along with lights within the recessed shelf in the wetroom area and over the bath allows light to bounce around the room.

Ensuite bathroom - scandi style

To add to the scandi style and embrace the hygge feel, we used soft tones and natural looking materials. Such as wood effect tiles and stone bath. Adding luxurious brushed taps and fittings create a spa quality to the design.
