Colourful Family wetroom in East Molesey
This colourful design adds a playful yet serene feel to this family bathroom in East Molesey.
The layout of the bathroom worked well, but wasn’t very exciting. With beige tiles on the walls, floor and basin counter top. Despite the shower area being a good size, it felt very enclosed with thick square glass tiles as a screen.
Our clients’ brief was for something colourful and exciting. They wanted to keep the existing basin unit, mirror and top cupboards, but the light grey colour of the cabinets didn’t work with a beige worktop and it was in need of an update. To complement the tiles in the shower area and bath surround, we painted the unit a soft blue called Bone China and the top units in Light PeachBlossom, both by Little Greene. We added shaver sockets within the units, keeping the counter area fuss free.
To lighten the look of the design, we used a matt white solid surface worktop, with a soft curve on the square basin cut-out. To add ambient low level lighting, we installed four lights across the plinth at the bottom of the unit.
The wetroom area is a generous size, but felt closed in because of the heavy set square glass tiles. To create a more spacious feel, we used frameless shower screen panels by Matki. Colourful tiles in a geometric pattern were used on the facing wall within the shower area, and in the recess on the returning wall. The wide recess shelf adds a practical area for shower items and plants.
Continuing the colourful element to the bath area, with pale pink and soft grey tiles, the design works in harmony. While looking sleek and being a practical space to use.
